UPCYCLING THE OCEANS

THE BEST VERSION OF AN INVESTMENT

Theconcept of sustainable investment came to stay at the end of the 1960s and today it is key for companies to act according to a series of sustainable parameters when investing, in order to achieve greater profitability and commitment to society. These are the so-called ESG criteria.

ESG CRITERIA

The ESG criteria cover the following aspects:

1. The environmental factor (E), to make decisions based on how the activities of the companies affect the environment.

2. The social factor (S), to take into account the impact on the community of the activities carried out by the company in terms of diversity, human rights or health care.

3. And the governance factor (G), which studies the impact of shareholders themselves and management, and is based on issues such as board structure, shareholder rights and transparency, among others.

These criteria define the guidelines for responsible and ethical investment by companies, indicating their responsibility to society.

CELINDE AND THE OCEANS

Celinde actively promotes investment with ESG criteria and, through Generali Index Evolution and its agreement with the Ecoalf Foundation, becomes part of the Upcycling the Oceans Spain project. This is an initiative led by that entity together with Ecoembes that was created in 2015 to clean the oceans of marine litter with the help of the fishing sector; and which also gives plastic waste a new life thanks to recycling and the circular economy. With this alliance, Celinde will recover 370 kg of garbage from the bottom of the Spanish maritime space.

PLASTIC-FREE COSMETICS

Some everyday cosmetic and cleaning products, especially exfoliating products, contain enormous amounts of plastic particles, which are released into the environment and threaten marine life.

Compositionally, our exfoliating creams contain volcanic pearl as an eco-sustainable active ingredient. Perlite is a volcanic glass rich in water. When subjected to high temperatures (900 °C), the water trapped in the porous rock vaporizes, causing its expansion (20 times its original size) and internal polishing. After grinding, the result is the formation of blunt spherical micro-pearls (190 µm) of bright white color.

The beads thus obtained combine the hardness of the volcanic rock with the softness of its micro-polished structure, providing maximum mechanical control in its exfoliating action (polishing effect).
